The Sergeant shall set an example for their personnel to follow. The Sergeant shall oversee the development and performance of their assigned staff. The Divisions include, but are not limited to Patrol, Facilities, Training, Administration, PSA/Cadet, and Security Services. Ensures that all personnel assigned to their shift follow the policies of the San Manuel Department of Public Safety.The Sergeant can be assigned to any Division within the Department of Public Safety and must be adept to working in any of them. Conducts criminal as well as administrative investigations and prepares reports for presentation to the prosecutor, the courts, and Tribal entities.
The Sergeant will oversee and direct Corporals, Officers, trainees, PSA’s (Public Safety Assistants) and Cadets assigning tasks, analyzing and evaluating reports, and participating in officer training programs. Work involves direct supervision of all Public Safety personnel on the shift. In the absence of the Lieutenant, the Sergeant may be assigned to assume the Watch Commander’s responsibilities.
Under the direction of the Lieutenants, the Sergeant is a uniformed and armed position with supervisory responsibility over all Public Safety Corporals, Officers, Public Safety Assistants, and Public Safety Cadets on his/her assigned shift.
